I find it difficult to be polite in response to those who rave about well-written a book is, when they clearly don't know the difference between an addictive piece of fluff and a genuinely well-written book. I'll be blunt: J.K. Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, Anne McCaffrey, and Christopher Paolini are not good writers. They can write compelling stories, but there's more to writing than that. That is all.
