books for the patient reader

I've been looking up thrillers all night, trying to gather enough to satisfy a large (but thankfully temporary) demand. While getting ideas, I stumbled across a blog labelled "Books for the Boy That Does Not Read". I thought this would be a marvellous place to find thrillers, but found - to my horror - that the list contains The Agony and the Ecstasy as a recommendation for high-schoolers. I quite liked The Agony and the Ecstasy (especially the first two-thirds; I thought the end lagged), but it's in no way a book for an impatient high school reader! Sigh.
I didn't list the name of the blog, because while I was so horrified that I had to share, I don't mean to single out this poor misguided soul.
